Jennifer Arp is the former Vice-Chair of the Toronto District School Board and Public School Trustee for Eglinton-Lawrence.
At the TDSB she was Chair of the Equity Policy Advisory Committee and had leadership roles involving student success, governance and audit. As Vice-Chair she was a public advocate for the board and helped communicate board’s positions and policies. As a new trustee she advocated for and helped architect a new governance structure and strategic plan, which led to improved transparency and public accountability.
Jennifer also has a wide range of government experience at the Federal and Provincial level including managing community relations for a Federal Cabinet Minister and multiple positions at Queen’s Park including MPP Liaison and Special Advisor to the Minister of Government Services. Prior to being elected to the TDSB Jennifer ran a successful small business for a number of years.
Jennifer is a member of Governing Council at Fairlawn Avenue United Church where she Chairs the Ministry and Personnel Committee, a member of Equal Voice, a non-partisan organization working towards gender parity in Canadian politics, and she has also been a Director on the Toronto Foundation for Student Success and the Ontario Public School Boards Association.
